California Redwoods Region - Nature & Natural Wonders
Redwood National & California State Parks bring you in touch with the awesome spectacle of coastal redwood forests. Here, even the huckleberry bushes tower over you as you observe majestic Roosevelt elk grazing on the prairies, watch the tail of a female Chinook salmon heave skyward as she makes a nest for her eggs, and hear the threatened marbled murrelets' keer across the treetops as they fly from the sea to their mossy nest. An amazing diversity of life awaits at Redwood National and California State Parks in an ancient coast redwood ecosystem: banana slugs, gray whales, Douglas-fir, black bears, and sea anemones are equally at home in the redwoods forest.
